The One House Project

The One House Project is a collaborative installation by the Art Watch collective led by both me and Ellyn Weiss. It brings the idea of inclusion to a personal level where we recognize our own roots i.e. unless we are Native American we are all immigrants whether we came here willingly or against our own volition.  We have translated that idea to a physical structure of a house that will be constructed in the gallery space. The outward walls of the house will be completed by the individually decorated wooden panels created by over 220 DMV artists where they honor one of their ancestors. Or, as in my case, my panel references the recent immigration and naturalization of both me and my husband, Prem.

Not only is One House a powerful and moving tribute to the diversity and complexity of what America is today, it is one of the biggest collaborations of artists in the mid-atlantic region.
